Stop Giving Away Traffic with YouTube Videos

By Big Jason On January 20, 2009 Under Marketing Resources

I thought to myself “Idiots!” in my best Napolean Dynamite voice while looking at the sales letters of a couple high-profile knuckleheads.

First knucklehead was Eben Pagan selling his Altitude Home Study Course. He used a ton of YouTube videos throughout the salesletter. Others include Tellman Knudson, Brian Mcelroy and Dr. Mike Woo Ming.

All their YouTube videos said “search for other videos, click on related videos, and possibly distract yourself from concentrating on the task at hand which is buy my stuff!”

This was ridiculous to me considering that it is so easy to remove the search field and related videos from youtube videos.

Do you really want to show people your competitors promotional videos when using a youtube video for an affiliate promo page?

Just watch this video to see how you can use youtube videos for blogs, salesleters, optin pages, affiliate promo pages and more without giving away your traffic to some douche bag like me. <-- I get a ton of youtube related video traffic from salesletters.

Here is an example of what your youtube embed code should look like:

<embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/q4lVvyBpVcs&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0″

&rel=0 is the key. You need to add that to the code. Watch the video.

Hope you found that helpful. Be sure to subscribe to my blog below to get more info like this.

ttys,
big jason
P.S. This was more for youtube videos you are already using. YouTube actually has these options built-in to their embed feature. For a demonstration video by my friend Julie Perry of The YouTube Secret Weapon, watch below which includes info on how to embed high quality and high def versions of videos too.

    Huge fallacy in this post.

There is more to a business than a mere transaction. Eben Pagan himself constantly preaches about “pushing the free-line” where he says that you should give away a good amount of content absolutely free to your audience. This post makes the same mistake as they guy that criticizes Eben Pagan for giving out too much free content because he could be selling that content.

please go back and watch the video. you have no idea what you’re talking about here. nothing you have said is even remotely close to what my post is about. watch the video. nothing to do with giving away free content

HELL YES!! it’s all these little distractions that I want to know how to get rid of. Search is a nice function, but not when you’re trying to use your videos to sell.

Yea man….If it weren’t for your Skilz I would be helping to promote the world as well.

This is a fundamental mistake and is like giving your visitor an invite to click off your offer or page. I gotta give you some kudos for pointing it out to me.

Where would we be if it were not for the Big Man!

Thanks for the help and thank you for all the great information you put out. Priceless!

Great tip! Thanks, I’ll be using that today to change some of my embedded videos. Do you know if something like this works for Revver videos as well? I’ve been using revver because they pay me a few cents for video views… but I might be giving up more than I’m making.
    Peace,
    Bob

Haha, I was one of those knuckleheads … or actually, I should say that my business partner, Dr. Mike, was one of those knuckleheads. :)

    Thanks for the tip!
