Do You Hate Video Only Salesletters?
Tellman Knudson is the latest in a trend of marketers using video only salesletters for his free giveaway of The 13th Module training.
There is no text below the video nor are there any controls on the video other than pause.
What if you have problems viewing the video? You’re out of luck buddy.
I actually had this problem with a recent launch. I couldn’t even view more than the first second of the video, and I actually wanted to see what the offer was. I looked for an option to see the actual salesletter if there were problems viewing the video, but there was no option other than to leave.
Mike Filsaime used a video salesletter for Free Butterfly Marketing 2.0 launch, but he had an Add to Cart button next to it and “supporting” text beneath it. Other than a few pauses, the video played fine for me, and I watched till the very end.
Tellman just has video and that is it. Fortunately it played great with no issues for me.
So I actually think it is pretty cool when the video plays without issues. When there are problems, I am extremely annoyed and leave. I do like the more personal style of Mike and Butterfly Marketing 2.0 versus the powerpoint presentation videos like Tellman, Wellman, etc.
View the 13th Module video salesletter and let me know in the comments section what you think about video only salesletters.

I disagree with the ‘video only’ technique.
As a potential customer I want the choice on
how to view the information. I can’t tell you
how many times I have moved off a page because
they didn’t give me a choice on how to view
information on their product or service.

I’m a member of Tellman’s List Building Club, and I HATE those videos. Sure I want to be able to control the video playback, but I also want to know how long it is before I start it and I want to see the progress bar to know where I’m at in it and if it has completed downloading or not. I’m on a Hughes.net satellite system (which I also hate, but don’t have a lot of options) so I have to watch that their FAP policy doesn’t come into play and restrict my usage if I go over. I wish everyone would also include the file size with their video (comments?) so we ‘dish’ users would know what we’er getting into beforehand. I really enjoy all of Tellman’s other training videos, and even many of his “Ask Tellman” monologues.

I think video is the wave of the future but I like to see some print too. It is a little annoying to come to a webpage and find only a video. It isn’t appealing to the eye.
